PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND HEALTH

TODAY IS: WORKOUT WEDNESDAY

SCREEN-LESS ACTIVITIES TO DO AT HOME

  • Hide and Seek: Such a classic! One person is the finder and must close their eyes, cover their face and count to 10. Everyone who is playing must go and hide somewhere in the house (or designated area). Be sure to tell everyone what areas of the house are off-limits. Do not hide somewhere that is un-safe! After finishing counting to 10, the find must go and look for the people who are hiding. When they have found all of the people, the first person who was found will be the new finder.
  • Indoor Obstacle Course: With the permission and supervision of your parents or caregivers, create an obstacle course inside (or outside if the weather permits it) using things from around the house. Jump over pillows, crawl under tables, run up the stairs, etc. Be creative and race your family!
  • The Floor is Lava: One person will be the lava monster and operate the music. While the music is playing, everyone can touch the floor and move around freely. When the lava monster stops the music, and says "The floor is lava!" everyone must get off the floor as fast as they can and get onto something else that is not the floor. The last one to get off the floor becomes the lava monster. (A fun adaptation: whoever is the last one off the floor must do 10 burpees, or sit-ups, or push-ups!)
  • Create your own Scavenger Hunt : Hide objects and items around the house for someone else to find using clues. (Maybe there will be a treasure to find at the end!)
  • Build a Fort or Go Camping InsideWith the approval of your parents or caregivers, build a fort or tent inside your house! Use items from around the house to build your magnificent structure, such as: pillows, couch cushions, blankets etc.
  • Plastic Bottle Bowling: Use empty plastic bottles (or other non-breakable items) and use them as bowling pins. Use a ball, or rolled up socks to try and knock them all down!
  • Sock Battle: Build multiple forts and use rolled up socks (preferably clean ones) to throw and battle against other members of your family! (Be sure not to play near anything breakable!)
  • Ball/Sock Basketball: Use a trash can, box, bucket, or any container as your net. Use a pair of socks, rolled up paper ball, or any other soft/small ball you have at home. Try and shoot into the "net" from different distances or different places around the room.
  • Ball/Sock Bocce: Use a unique small item as your target and place it across the room on the floor. Use socks, small/softs balls, or any other objects you find that could work, and toss them towards the unique item on the other side of the room. The person with the closest "ball" to the unique item gets one point! Play to as many points as you wish.
  • Charades: Write down at least 10 different things, people, places, movies etc. on individual pieces of paper. Put all of those pieces of paper into a hat. One person will select a piece of paper and must secretly look at it. They must then act out whatever is on the paper to the other people in the room. Whoever guesses what was on the paper correctly, gets one point. Be sure to change people who are acting often and play to as many points as you wish.
  • Play a board game: Take out a board game (or two!) and get the whole family involved!
  • Card games: There are SOOOO many different card games out there. Play one that you already know or learn a new one!
  • Puzzles: This can be really relaxing way to distract us and really focus on something else!
